River City Views Debuts

The folks at al.com asked if I'd be interested in doing a new blog for them, and of course, I am happy to oblige. River City Views will have a Montgomery and Alabama focus , but I'm not going to promise I'll stick strictly to that. It's just my intention. I love to make connections to what's happening elsewhere and so you'll see national and world events spun with a twist of the South.

Please come visit if you can spare the time. I'll continue the Alabama Kitchen Sink too. I always appreciate your comments and the time you regular readers spend here.

Kind Regards,
Sheila

Best of luck on the River City Views project. It must be brown lizard season. We had one in the house yesteday, and Jester the Cat began channeling his inner jungle beast. Even though the mini-dinosaur was removed yesterday afternoon, Jester has kept a keen eye on the windowsill all day long.

Thanks, Randy. I hope RCV allows comments. I caught the lizard who had turned green and was sitting on a basket. He didn't run away as they are wont to do and I carried him outside to freedom. I hate the way the little guys get trapped inside. I looked him up on Outdoor Alabama and found out he was a Green Anole a.k.a. a chameleon. Jester is going to love all the critters.

Hope you are settling in and thanks for visiting the new blog.

You must be tickled pink. It's a personal question, so hush me up if you don't want to answer, but will you receive compensation for this or just recognition? Hey, I'd be perfectly happy with the recognition, but I guess if you're like me, an extra buck certainly doesn't hurt.

All the congratulations and luck are in order. I hope Kitchen Sink doesn't suffer too much, but I'd certainly understand if it did. ;)

al.com has been in need of content from Montgomery. Good Luck... Do us proud!

Thanks, anonymous. I'll make a stab.

Tim, it's enough compensation to take you to dinner if you choose wisely and don't drink too much--more along the lines of an honorarium. But I'm fine with that and it gives me a chance to write and I enjoy that. I'll keep both blogs going since I can hawk my CafePress stuff here and post photos (I haven't figured out how to do that at al.com yet). I appreciate you stopping by and commenting.

Sheila, I’ve lived in the Montgomery/Wetumpka/Lake Jordan area 36 years and except for one termite contract I’ve spent nary a penny on a bug man. Tell your husband to be your bug man and pay him only if you wish to.

For roaches, silver fish, and many other insects all he has to do is buy some inexpensive boric acid powder and learn how to use it. CAUTION: If you have pets or small children around use it in such a way as to make it inaccessible to them so they can’t ingest it.

You may want to check out this website and possibly others: http://alsnetbiz.com/homeimprovement/boric_acid.html.

Thanks, Don. My mom swore by the boric acid powder. Maybe that's why I don't remember the big old bugs. We will try it since at the present time we have neither pets or toddlers.

I enjoyed the stories on River City Views, but I didn't see a place for comments. So I thought I 'd let you know how much I enjoyed reading about your background on this site, Sheila.

I'm glad, too, that you found the lizard. My dogs would love those gigantic bugs you have, lol!

Hope you don't forget Alabama Kitchen Sink though. I would miss reading it a great deal!

Thanks, for visiting Marion. I'm going to have to look at the new blog to see if I can enable comments.

I was sorry to see no place for comments, too, but it looks like a good start. Congrats to you.

PS. Take a peek at the latest post on the BLOG VILLAGE News blog, OK?

DB,
Yes, that is something & I have an e-mail into the al.com folks about. I think I could do it by messing around but I am hesitant and afraid I'd goof it up. I am a bit of a technophobe.

Thank you so much for your kind words at the BLOG VILLAGE News. I am happy to be a part of this group. I also read your "rant" about comments and took it to heart. So, if you folks see some strange comments it'll be Rosemary's fault. Ha.

Yeah, blame all the spam and kooks on me, huh?

Naomi,
Thank you for visiting. I hate that making a comment is so cumbersome there.

CONGRATULATIONS are in order, Sheila! I will add RCV to my blog roll on my personal blog, so that I can skip on over and read it during morning coffee break...
