I'm investigating cutting the cable TV cord. Right now it seems like a good idea. With Netflix and the Internet as options, I truly think it's time. We watch a lot of programs via Netflix already.
Of course, I'd still like to be able to watch the local news and Tom Skilling's weather forecast on WGN. I have read about the best antennas and have one in mind: the Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV Reception. Now, I guess I will have to see what Comcast wants to charge me to continue my Internet service, which I really have no complaints about. My gripe with Comcast has to do with the outrageous price I am paying each month. Stay tuned to see how it goes.

I will check it out. Thanks.
We've been toying with the same notion- the internet/cable bill jumped up to over $105 per month. No HBO or even digital at that point- just regular cable and Earthlink Lite. I've been calling Brighthouse for months trying to get a deal or promo- FINALLY got a young man who told me we could keep our Earthlink email addresses (which we can't delete at this point), sign up for Roadrunner (even though we don't have to use their email) and get high speed internet, digital cable AND save
$8 per month. I just have to pay Earthlink directly for their email services- just around $4 per month.
I say I could live without having channels beyond channel 18 but since we never go out or to movies, I sort of like having some choices.
*btw- have missed your blog!
Hi Floridagirl,
Good to hear from you again. Hope you and your family are well! I am leaning toward ditching cable as I think it encourages me to watch too much mindless crap. Sounds like you found a good solution.
Sheila
Unfortunately, way up here I think we are stuck with cable. Netflix has come to Canada, but we haven't tried it yet. People on the Island use Netflix a lot, though.
Hope things work out...looks like Comcast got in touch with you, Wow!
Hi Sheila! Sorry it's been so long since I've visited.
We have always had an antenna only, but we do belong to Netflix now and have my computer connected to the TV for viewing.
We live in a fringe reception area, so when the HD switch was made we lost some local stations. We did try an "HD" antenna, but the first bad storm blew out the electronics in it. So, we put the old antenna back up and just make do.
I've put up a post asking for help for the tornado survivors in Alabama. I'd appreciate it if you have the time to write a post, too.
