Morning After in Obama Land

If you didn't vote for Obama, I guess you are a bit disappointed this morning. Here in Chicagoland, there was a buzzing energy all yesterday as we went through the day. Nervous, anxious and wondering if just maybe he/we would pull it off. I tried to get tickets to the Grant Park shindig but was wait listed, and I'm not sure I would have ventured into that sea of Obama if the tickets were forthcoming.

And now, the work continues. The election was the tip of the iceberg.

Look for a centrist Obama despite the Right-Wing fears of a Left bonanza. This is the only way to accomplish change. It's going to be interesting. Stay tuned. And get yourself an Obama t-shirt.

I hope he turns out to be good, for the country's sake, I fear what will happen if he is another Jimmy Carter.

Pray for our soldiers, you see, I was in a war where we quit in the middle......

I was thinking of you last night as I watched the returns and wondered if you were in Grant Park! What an amazing amount of people celebrating there and all over the World.

I am so pleased.I realize it is just the Tip of the Iceberg...but what a huge Tip it is!

YUp, it was a great evening. I was too excited to cook, so we had pizza from Tomatino's.

Their pizzas are usually ready in 20 minutes but this time it was more like 30. I guess a lot of people had the same idea that we had.

Wondered if you had made it to the Park. I watched TV virtually the whole night (being 8 hours ahead of Chicago). Very exciting and I am thrilled with the results even though I live elsewhere.

Sarge,
Yes, we all need him to succeed and pull the right and the left closer to the middle where we can find more common ground.

I hope the Democrats don't blow it. There is no excuse with the makeup of Congress.

Marion and Jackie,
I do think the world was watching. Even though you are not Americans, your countries are so influenced by what we do.

Rev. Jay,
I an envious. Tomatinos had the best pizza east of Italy.

But, Sheila, where you're living now you're able to get Chicago deep-dish pizza.

Strangely, Jay, we haven't gotten deep dish pizza in a long while. Spoiled by Italy I suppose.

Having just moved away from Chicago, how does the city continue to vote Democrat. It's gotten to the point the taxes are so high in the city that one would think that you would finally figure it out. Just my .02. I know I got sick of being taxed to death by the Mayor Daley's machine, and you gotta figure Obama is a product of his surroundings.

Thanks for stopping by Clay. I have never lived in Chicago city limits--just in Glen Ellyn and Batavia. The property taxes in these parts are a big ouch. Alabama property taxes were nice in a way, but education and services suffered. As they say, half dozen of one, six of another.

Obama and taxes--could he do worse than the republicans and the deficit?
