Limoncello for a Liquid Christmas Gift

All of my Christmas gift ideas this year will be unique in some way, and none will be over-the-top expensive.

If you get started today on this first idea, you should have a batch of pretty good limoncello right before Christmas that you can divvy up for your best friends. I am not going into the details since my son and daughter-in-law have posted their limoncello recipe on their Vino e Vittles blog. This wonderful Italian digestivo is nice packaged in little bottles, and Jeff and Natalie give a low-down on where you can get the bottles as well as how to procure and clean the lemons for the best possible product.

Of course, the lemons we find in the U.S. and Canada are quite unlike the huge lemons you see everywhere in Sorrento, but this is the best limoncello recipe out there and comes very close to the limoncello you’d find being made on Italy’s Amalfi Coast in Sorrento.

I have a lemon tree, so I'll have to check out the Vino e Vittles blog. I don't know what limoncello is...but I will soon be finding out.

I loved your comment on my blog. Sound like you've been there done that!

Thanks for stopping by.

Jeff and Natalie's site is awesome...I've just returned from there.

I'm going to hand this recipe over to my daughter, since I don't drink anymore. It sounds yummy, though, and I know she will enjoy it!

I have three lemon trees in my back yard. I am so excited about this recipe. I am worried about giving it as gifts to my neighbors because I am not sure just how religious they are and I am nervous about mailing it to family. I guess I will have to keep it all for myself, so sad.

You folks with the lemon trees are really lucky.

Marsha,
It can be a bit tricky if you don't know about whether someone drinks or not. We once took a bottle of wine for our host and she looked at it like it was going to bite her. Later we discovered she was a big Baptist. But on the trees, I didn't know there were lemon trees in Mississippi.
