Miles to Go Before I Sleep

The list. We all may have one either written or only in our heads. Here's my list of things I want to do before I die. And as far as I know, I am not doing that right now and hopefully not any time soon for you see I have lots of things left to do.

The List

See Scott graduate from high school. (I wrote this last year and Scott graduated in May of 2007)
See Scott graduate from college.
Be a grandmother. (Nicolas Bryant--born February 23, 2008)
Open my own business.
Succeed in my business.
Return to Italy.
Visit Greece again.
Travel by car to Montana and ride horses there.
Lose 22 pounds and have a BMI of 24.
Own an English Springer Spaniel again.
Run for public office.
See my Oklahoma relatives.
Find a hairstyle I really like.
Learn not to worry.
Perform many random acts of kindness.
Fly in a single engine plane.
Go to Mexico and eat an authentic meal.
Have a birthday party with a Mariachi band.
Visit the Smithsonian again.
See a play in New York City.
Go camping again.
Become a muckraker and right an injustice.
Go to an Alabama football game in Tuscaloosa.
See a really difficult situation to the end.
Help someone through a difficult time.
Drive a Miata.
License a design.
Laugh a lot.
Have more fun.
Spend time with my family.
Paint a picture of a cow.
Become a better photographer, writer, editor and designer.
Earn enough money to support myself, my family and have some left over for the greater good.

I'm with Bee on the run for office thing..seems crazy Sheila. But I think you should immediately start laughing more and paint that cow....

What a wonderful list! And so many of those are so do-able. I think a lot of us put things on our lists that we know will never ever happen and that's just depressing. Having a list like yours is a great way to stay focused on your goals and succeed in the things that are important to you.

Sheila, congrats! Both on your list and on becoming a grandma...I am happy to hear that!

I like your list, many items on there I can identify with, and some great goals.

I would like to make enough money for the greater good, as well. It'll happen one day.

Thanks everyone. Some things are more doable than others but nearly all are/were in my control.

Bee and Rick,
I'd like to run. I don't know about actually serving. Ha. A dear friend ran for a judgeship last year and lost by a small margin. It's not easy.

Hush up now, you hear, I need someone to fight with and you are just so damn good at it, I will not even talk mean to you just swing a few punches, of course you are right as usual, the Dems will find a way to lose, they will bleed on each other before this is over.

Go for the list, and don't let anyone say you can't do it!

Oh Sarge, I do wish I had the fire in my belly again for politics. Maybe it will return in the heat of summer. What's really important in life obscures my interest right now.

Thanks, Joe. I do think most of things are doable. Right now painting that picture of a cow sounds the most fun. And the hairstyle thing--I'm working on that and there is progress and if I could talk the son of a friend to take me up for a flight I'd really be on my way.

That's quite the list. I curious on one or two, though. 1. Paint a picture of a cow? 2. Drive a Miata?

I will have to say, however, somehow I get the impression that you laugh a lot, anyhow - so perhaps you've fulfilled most of that one. ;)

Tim,
I have forever wanted to have one of these little sports cars but the reality of family life always took priority. The cow thing involves this explanation: I've always loved cows although I am not a vegetarian (I really need to rethink that in light of the cow thing). I've photographed them and the next logical step is to do a painting. Gotta be a black & white cow though.

An admirable list. Ultimately, I think, the bottom line is that you choose to live a life of purpose which makes you as successful as anyone gets.

A few of these seem to be in the help out someone in need category. Maybe you can point your camera out the window and share the view. :-) Can't hurt to ask, huh?
