Heed the Warning

One of my favorite Montgomery bloggers wrote about a subject we need to heed. Alex from The Apocalypse Papers posted Competition Trick Eating where he talked about an experience at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Check his blog out and I won’t have to put in my two cents. Sex Toys and Elvis is a good post too.

Great posts from Alex. I just went over to have a look. Love the cute piggy photo. After seeing these cute creatures, it's enough to put you off bacon for life. They look so sweet and innocent. It reminded me of Babe.

Naomi, I'm glad you had a chance to visit Alex. I could be a vegetarian for just that reason. If I think to much about it, I get soft hearted and think "how can I eat these creatures?"

Sheila: "how can I eat these creatures?"

Sheila, if you had grown up in the aftermath of “The Great Depression” during WWII when meat of all sorts was rationed even when available you might have learned to appreciate pork when you could get it. Back then even city folk tended what were known as “Victory Gardens” to have veggies, and many took to raising their own meat animals. We had chickens and raised pigs for the table. Even as a young child I helped to slaughter, clean, process and preserve pork. It is said of pigs that every part of them is edible except for their squeal, and we ate it all and were glad to have it.

Don, everything you say rings true. My mom, herself a child of the Great Depression, told me many a story of the food they ate. Not much meat for them though. Mostly cornbread and beans. We are overfed, lazy and adopting lifestyles that will only mean more illnesses like diabetes. I'm not a vegetarian but I still am bothered by eating meat.
