Beware the march of the pink ribbon is almost upon us. My emphasis this year is on encouraging women to get their mammograms on time.
This is one exam that can help detect breast cancer when many cancers are in their earlier and more easily treated stages.Cafepress is again this year donating money from special breast cancer marketplace pages to a non-profit breast cancer charity.

Thanks for the reminder, Sheila...guess I'd better schedule mine. Not one of my favourite tests, for sure, and sometimes I have to be pushed to do it. I can procrastinate something awful over this one!
Oh Marion, I completely understand. I found excuses for about 5 years. Not smart. Now, I try to face these exams with a more realistic view.
Breast Cancer is another cause that is near and dear to me. I have lost friends and relatives alike to this disease. I wish you good luck. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Joe,
Thank you.I'm sorry you have lost friends and relatives. Unfortunately, hardly everyone is the same.
Miss Bee,
I hope you are getting back to your old self and recovering. After the scars heal, we and our families are never really the same. We deal, we cope, we adapt. Thanks for encouraging other women to get the yearly mammogram when it's time. And to any women who read this and haven't been on schedule: please put aside your fears and call to make that appointment.
Well said Sheila. Sticking our head in the sand isn't the answer. We all need to face that machine and go. I love your site. Your store looks very interesting. What a great idea. Have you ever visited the breastcancersite.com? It funds free mammograms for people that can't afford them, just by a click. Best to you.
We sell all sorts of stuff in our stores to support the Susan Komen foundation. (Dog cookies, pink leashes, pink toys etc.). (I work for the big pet retailer "where the pets go" I'll even send you something for your dog if you want it...my treat. let me know!
Wow, Sheila!
Great Post! I am agree 100%! People should care of health and do all testes in proper time!
Thank you for your donations to breastcancer.org it could save some Life!
Svetlana and Kyle
CA,
Thanks for your comments and for stopping by. I have heard of the site you mentioned and have visited it.
PSS,
What an interesting job that must be! Sure Monte would accept most anything you have but he certainly couldn't promise anything in return. Since he's my granddog, I'd have to ask his mom and dad first though.
Kyle & Svet,
I'm curious as to how health care is in Russia. Maybe some time that would be something you could write about.
Thanks for stressing the importance of getting regular mammograms Sheila. Pink ribbons and pink related items are currenly being sold here in aid of breast cancer charity. I bought a ribbon yesterday.
I guess it's safe to say, the awareness is becoming world-wide.
Good post.
We have lovely little beaded ribbons which help the poor rural people who make them as well as funds for Breast Cancer.
One thing I really think they need to do here is teach self examination as millions have no access to mammograms and I see that funnily enough more find their own lumps than they do via x-ray I read somewhere (I take it they mean more aware women as uneducated women would not be looking).
Jackie,
You raised an interesting point that many women in some parts of the world are not able to get mammograms. The self exam is important for just this reason. Know thy breasts! A cancer might be bigger but it is still treatable. And women also need to remember the yearly clinical exam by their doctor even if they are not age 40 and above.
News Target has just posted a parody cigarette advert due to their intense dislike of Tobacco Companies you might like to see:
