In a Perfect World

A few years ago the U.S. pharmacy chain, Walgreen's, had an advertising campaign called "perfect." I will spare you the details but we all long for perfect. I'm glad a drugstore chain thinks it can ease us into perfect.

When we are young girls many of us dream of the white-picket fence surrounding a cute house. Remember the Crosby Stills Nash & Young song, Our House? "With two cats in the yard, Life used to be so hard." We are never even remotely prepared for life's curve balls. We only do the best we can and muster strength and resolve to play the hand we are dealt. That's the reality.

Where is "perfect" when you need it?

I am wishing you "perfect" friends, "perfect" moments, and "perfect" wisdom to help deal with life's imperfection.

I've found that there isn't any perfect.

Well excpet when I watch the kids sleep and wonder how I got so lucky to have them...maybe that is a perfect moment.

Sorry I haven't come around lately, Sheila.

Sheila,

Remember, perfect is boring. Sure, there are times when life sucks, but without them the existance of beauty and joy would be impossible. It is cold comfort in those dark times, but as the Yin and Yang teaches us, there is always light to be found.

I hope you find that light and the Yang of the universe reemerges in your life.

Marsha,
Rough patch--yes, what an accurate description.

Lorelei and Florida Girl and ummfarouq and Dana,
I appreciate your messages.

t-dude,
There is always light and hope. You are right though the the joy is only greater because we have seen the other side of joy.

joe,
In your business, you know that things are up and down. I have been blessed to know many of your fellow professionals. However, present circumstances have introduced me to a new set for someone close to me. I hate to be so vague but I am only a supporting player in this play and privacy is not mine to violate. The prayers are truly appreciated. Perhaps one day I can tell this story.

Sheila- the only perfection I can envision is that what is from God. Everything else, is just a reproduction. As long as human beings are part of the equation, there cannot be perfection.

Hope you are OK.

That's a great post Sheila and the words ring so true. I always think even though many of us strive for perfection in life, there is no such thing. Sometimes you just have to be happy and make the most of what you have. Thinking of you Sheila. Hope you are ok.

I bought into the white-picket-fence dream...and reality has spoken: my life is far from that. With hindsight, I must say that the bumps and grinds have yielded a far richer life than just picking roses from an idyllic yard and pickling turnips. I left the confines of this fenced in dream many moons ago. I still relish and enjoy the sweet things of life, but it is always combined with challenges that offset the bucolic life.

I am praying for you, dear Sheila. We are enduring some tough times right now, too. Yet, I am thankful that I serve a perfect God, who doesn't fall off His throne in the midst of all His multi-tasking. We have see Him come through for us time and time again.

Many hugs, KJ

Sarge, Miss B, Naomi, and Rick,
Thanks for your kind words. Sarge, it's funny how I don't miss politics and football and all the silly stuff I sometimes write about. Here's hoping for those silly days again. Maybe when Spring shows her face and Summer brings warm winds, I'll turn to silly.

Miss B,
Thanks for the hug. Give that Dawg fan a big hug for me. He's a keeper.

Rick and Naomi,
I am okay.

KJ,
I know you are a woman of strong faith. I hope the "tough times" you are enduring (and that is a wonderful word by the way) are soon less tough.

Well, Sheila. I am so sorry. And sorry I was off line when you wrote this post.

It is so very difficult to sit on the sidelines when someone close battles with a crisis. And all I can do is offer support...such a paltry word.

And perfection? Maybe Walgreen's forgot there was a process to go through to find it.

All my very best to you and your family, my friend.

Marion,
I've missed your wise posts but understand why you are busy. Thank you for the good wishes. It will be near summer before this long journey reaches a home coming milestone and that may just be one of many. It is much easier to bear when it is just myself but when it involves those I love, I can only watch and offer support.
