One Lucky Dog

A couple of stories worth noting from the Chicago Tribune this morning: My daughter-in-law sent me this story about Lucky, the Springer Spaniel, who was dragged nearly a mile behind the car of a 92-year-old woman before being rescued. Amazingly, he survived without any broken bones. Regular readers know I love Springers, and Jeff and Natalie have one themselves. Natalie said Lucky looked a lot like their puppy, Monte. I guess my biggest question about this story is: what the devil is a 92-two-year-old doing driving?

Another story that caught my eye was the news that Evan Bayh is not going to make a race for the Democratic presidential nomination largely due to the hoopla surrounding Obama. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited that we have a potential candidate that can generate this buzz, but I’m dismayed to see good candidates like Bayh take themselves out so early. Obama has not been proven and we must not pick a person too soon.

Did they explain whether she knew she was dragging anything? I sure hope not!!

As for Obama, maybe it's just that so many Democrats are glad to see an alternative to Clinton that they aren't thinking straight. I usually vote Republican, but if I had no choice but Obama or Clinton, I'd take "pig in a poke" Obama any day!!

DB,
I know you probably will disagree with me, but you know I'm a Yellow Dog Democrat so just take what I say with a grain of salt. I would vote for Bill Clinton in a heartbeat if he could run despite his dilly-dally. My Bill's dear Italian friend once told him, Bill Clinton would have been a "god" in Italy because of that very fact.

Hillary is another matter. I think she's too much of a lightning rod and alienates too many independents . Oh she could do the job. I just don't think she could get elected.

My guy is John Edwards. He has a vision and he is enthusiastic. I have watched him on at least two occasions on C-Span at campaign rallys and he just seems so geniune and sincere (well, as much as a politician can. I still remember Bush talking about "compassionate conservatism). I want him to at least have a chance. By the time the primary rolls around in Alabama, I feel like our votes don't matter. I wish the Democratic Party would hold a nation-wide one day primary but that will probably never happen.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on politics, my friend, as this is one area our minds are far apart. But I agree that many would vote for Bill in a heartbeat. He is certainly intelligent and perhaps more capable of dealing with all the International problems of the last few years. I just can't forget the lasting damage he did in disrespecting the office of the Presidency.

Sounds like Lucky lived up to his name Sheila. I like the picture of your granddog Monte. He's a cute dog.
